I have been working on a data mapping system for the last week.

It started simple enough.

We need to let someone (you know that someone is me…) change the way RIDL maps data.

RIDL is pretty good at it right now and still sometimes I want that email address to go in the “email“ field not the “workEmail“ field.

So I update the map and launch the processing.

Yeah I could do this by hand and it wouldn’t take a week to get done or the two weeks that it looks like this entire mapping thing is going to take.

Once RIDL does this though. It’s over. I never have to work on mapping data again.

I get to enjoy being the “intelligent oversight“.

I will probably have to drag and drop things here are there.

What I don’t have to do though is open a spreadsheet or csv and move things around by hand.

No more trying to figure out what things go where and what things need to be formatted some other way.

All done in seconds…

The current pass here has hundreds (thousands? will have to check) getting done in seconds.

You don’t have to have RIDL to do this.

You do have to spend the time to make something that gives you the time back.
