I’d ask my AI coding tool to make a change. It builds the wrong thing. Clarify. Try again. Rephrase. 10-15 attempts to get one thing right.
Every single attempt? Charged.
Then my bill came: $150 for the month.
My direct Claude subscription? $20.
Same underlying AI. Same capabilities.
One charges me for every failed attempt.
The other charges me a flat rate.
The coding tool billed me $150 to learn what I actually meant through trial and error.
Claude cost me $20 and I could try as many times as I needed.
So I switched how I work.
Not because one is worse. Because the pricing model punishes you for their mistakes.
You pay for attempt 1 (wrong). You pay for attempt 2 (still wrong). You pay for attempt 3 (getting closer). You pay for attempts 4-15 until it finally works.
You’re paying them to figure out what you meant.
That’s not a product. That’s a fucking tax on miscommunication.
This is the model we’re killing.
RIDL charges when outcomes are verified. When data actually lands. When results exist.
Not per attempt. Not per token. Not per “we tried really hard.”
When it works.
Because charging you $150 to eventually deliver $20 worth of value?
That’s not innovation. That’s exploitation.
